Is quitting smoking difficult?
Quitting smoking is difficult for most people, regardless of age, but it’s never too late. You can make it happen.
With proper preparation, a strong support network, and, in some cases, a nicotine replacement therapy or prescription drug, your chances of quitting smoking doubles. Many people have been able to quit smoking through the use of anti-tobacco drugs. Nicotine replacement therapy (NRT), an over-the-counter medication, reduces nicotine cravings and improves smoking cessation when taken in combination (nicotine patch, chewing gum, inhaler, lozenge, or spray) and the right dosage.
Doubts about Cessation Of smoking:
You may be concerned about: how difficult it will be to quit smoking, the responses of friends or family who still smoke, gaining weight, losing a part of yourself, and giving up time for yourself.
Additional sources of stress include nicotine withdrawal symptoms or changes in your daily routine. On the other hand, worrying about how smoking is affecting your health or the health of your family and friends can be quite stressful, so it is wise to worry about quitting smoking. Nicotine raises your heart rate and blood pressure, putting extra stress on your body.
